Clinical Director and Psychologist

Dr Claire Joseph

Dr Claire Joseph is a registered Clinical Psychologist and Supervisor with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). She graduated from Deakin University with a Doctor of Psychology (Clinical), Honours in Applied Science (Psychology) and Bachelor in Applied Science (Psychology).

Dr Claire Joseph has worked with clients from a range of cultural backgrounds and ages in not-for-profit organisations, community mental health settings as well as within the private sector. She works across the lifespan, though has a particular interest in working with children, adolescents, young adults and parents.


Dr Claire Joseph prides herself in being evidence-based whilst still being collaborative, personable, friendly, and authentic. She is passionate about helping others to help themselves and hopes to help you find that inner strength to take on the waves of your life.

Tara Down

Tara Down is a registered Psychologist with AHPRA. She graduated from the University of Victoria (Masters of Professional Psychology), Monash University (Postgraduate Diploma of Psychology- Advanced) and the University of Melbourne (Bachelor of Psychology).

Tara has experience working with clients across diverse cultural backgrounds and age groups, with a particular focus on assessments and supporting individuals under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

Guided by evidence-based practice, Tara takes pride in creating a therapeutic environment characterised by collaboration, trust and authenticity. With a nuanced understanding of the importance of these elements in the therapeutic process, Tara ensures that every interaction cultivates a sense of safety and understanding.


Practice manager 

Trudie Ferreira

Trudie has 41 years of experience in healthcare as a radiographer within the public and private sector, across two continents. She was the chief medical imaging technologist in a busy private radiology clinic whilst also being the area chief medical technologist supporting and managing staff across four busy private radiology clinics.

After many years in radiography, she has decided to change things up and move into the field of psychology due to her passion for helping people. Trudie is empathetic and it is her mission, as the initial point of contact and practice manager at Bass Coast Psychology and Consulting, to make clients’ experiences as easy and enjoyable as possible. Her motto is “live justly, show constant love and walk humbly”.
